Ministry
Dick Mills August 28 devotional reading exactly describes what we hope ministers will receive when they come to Zoe
Mountain Ministerial Retreat. This could easily be our mission statement. We desire when you leave here, as in the last
paragraph of August 28th, that you will "go back again rested, re-created, refreshed, and renewed". Thank you to Dick Mills
KJV Mark 6:30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done,
and what they had taught. 31: And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there
were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32: And they departed into a desert place by ship
privately.

..."Come aside by yourselves... and rest a while!"...
Mark 6:31 NKJ
In Mark 6,we read how Jesus and the disciples could not
function properly because the crowds kept coming and going,
disrupting their normal eating and sleeping routines. Finally,
the pressure of ministry became so great Jesus announced that it
was time to draw aside and rest a while.
The key word here is rest. In the original Greek text, it is
anapauo (an-ap-ow'-o). This word has three possibilities that
speak to us today in our pressure-laden, stress-filled world:
Anapauo is the word used to describe an intermission in a play,
an opera, a concert, or a stage production. This cessation is not
only to give the audience a break in the action, but also so the
artists and performers can have a moment to recuperate.
Anapauo also indicates recreation. This word can also be
spelled re-creation. God created us originally, but from time to
time we need to be physically, spiritually, mentally, and
emotionally re-created. This can be accomplished through
leisure-time activities such as fishing, camping, golfing, hiking
or picnicking -- anything, in fact, that is totally different from
our usual daily routine.
Anapauo also refers to refreshment. The Lord wanted the
disciples to have a break in the action, to take some physical
and spiritual refreshment, and then to go back to ministry with
renewed strength and courage.
Anapauo. This could be a real word for us today: "Come aside
by yourselves...and rest a while. Then go back again rested, re-
created, refreshed, and renewed."
